Welcome to Dolores County Nursing Service.

Mission:
Dolores County Nursing Service has the responsibility to protect and promote the health and well being of the individuals and communities it serves.

DCNS Services and Programs:
Child immunizations, low cost vaccines against childhood illnesses.
Adult immunizations, immunizations against tetnus, flu, and pneumonia.
Fluoride mouth rinse program; along with Dove Creek schools we offer a free weekly fluoride rinse program.
WIC; The federal Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) provides supplemental nutrition, counseling, education and supplies for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers and their children.
Blood pressures, You may come in for a free blood pressure check. Well family clinics are monthly at the Cahone Senior Center to take blood pressures.

Children with special health care needs -- Referrals

Health Care Program for Children with Special Needs (HCP) offers services to children who have or are at risk for potentially chronic physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional condition and who also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally. Specialists are available to provide services through neurological and rehabilitation clinics. HCP Care Coordination team includes: a nurse, social worker, eligibility technician, parent consultant, nutritionist, audiologist, speech pathologist, and occupational/physical therapist.
This coordination team provides the following services:
  • Helps you establish a "Medical Home," and/or provides resources and coordination of medical services for your child.
  • Makes sure you know about and receive the network of supports and services available in your community.
  • Helps you find care for your child, such as other specialty clinics: Children's Development Evaluation Clinic (CDEC), Genetics, Endocrine, Diabetic clinic.
  • Helps you connect with other parents/families with children with special medical concerns.
  • Helps you plan for your child's transition from Pediatric to Adult services.
  • Assists you with making arrangements for travel to out-of-area hospitals or health care facilities.
  • Helps families connect with the Colorado Hearing Aid Loan Bank and other state resources.
